Movie making in Nigeria has metamorphosed into a very vibrant industry that is the talk on everyone’s lips. The world woke to behold an industry that is giving its counterparts all over the world a run for their money. The world cannot help but be amazed by the rapid growth of Nollywood. The industry can now boast of a lot of creative minds around the camera. A new breed of directors with vibrant artistic creativity has taken over the driving seat, making sure of better outputs. One of the numerous persons that have cut a niche for themselves in Nollywood is Ugezu J. Ugezu, a director who is known for his metaphysical and notional films. The idea of metaphysics is a new genre that is being explored in Nigeria. It gives room for our myths and legends and all their accorded heroism to be exhibited. This paper examines the concept of creativity and fictional metaphysics through Ugezu’s recent works. Like his contemporary counterparts, Ugezu’s aesthetics outputs through his metaphysical studio, create marks that separate him from the bunch. This paper will also look at the creativity of modern Nigerian directors and their contributions in the Nigerian movie industry, concluding that there is need to support the efforts of Nollywood practitioners.
